Hi, I’m Kyle Painter. I’m the Vice President of Innovation for the Apothecary Shoppes. I want to talk to you a little bit about a frequently asked question I received about, “Kyle, what kind of sinus treatments does the Apothecary Shoppe compound?” Often times I have people called, they have chronic sinus headaches. Maybe chronic sinus congestion and they want to know if there is anything that we can do them. The answer is yes.

One of the neatest things that we do is we compound these capsules that you can actually dissolve their contents into some sterile sailing. You can pour that into a machine called the NasoNeb. Now, the NasoNeb is pretty remarkable. It’s a nasal nebulizer. When you turn the machine on, it will literally nebulize like fine mist, this medication into the sinus passages. It will literally coat every nuke and cranny inside your sinus.

The benefit is it can deliver these medications to areas where if you are taking them by mouth, oral capsules for example, they won’t ever reach every area inside your sinuses. With the NasoNeb, it will. What we’re finding is patients are getting relieved for they’ve never had before. Sinus congestion is going away, the pressure is being relieved. It’s just really neat and rewarding to see people getting results.

If you have issues with chronic sinus pain, sinus pressure, sinus congestion and you want to know some information about the NasoNeb device or the prescriptions that we can compound to better fit your need. Just contact one of our pharmacist or talk to one of our staff at The Apothecary Shoppe, Tulsa Pharmacy.

Hi, I’m Kyle Panter. I’m the vice president of the Innovation with the Apothecary Shoppes and I want to talk to you about a frequently asked question I receive about pain treatments. What type of therapies can the Apothecary Shoppe offer for pain? Without a doubt, one of the most popular ones would be a topical pain cream and what’s really neat about those is were able to combine several different medications into one topical cream so that you can apply it directly on the area where you have pain. For example, if your knee has some trouble, you’re able to put a dose of this cream on your knee, let it soak in there and you get the pain relief you’re expecting usually within 20 to 30 minutes.

The neat thing is that it doesn’t travel anywhere else in your body so it’s not going to upset your stomach, it’s not going to cause you to be loopy or dizzy or drowsy. It won’t interfere or interact with any other oral medications. When we take a pill to help our knee that pill actually has to dissolve in our entire bloodstream just to work in our knee and so it becomes really dilute. With the topical pain creams, you’re able to get a lot more dosage of the pain relieving medication delivered directly there. It would look something like this, we dispense it in a topical pain pump that looks kind of like this, you would basically depress the pump one time, rub that in, wait about 30 to 40 minutes. Then if your pain isn’t resolved or if it’s maybe resolved by 50% or so, you can go ahead and put a second pump on it at that time. You can use these up to three or four times a day.

Rather than taking three, four, five different oral medications to help your knee, we can wrap it all up into one topical pain cream that won’t give you side effects. It’s a really neat option. If you have any other questions about topical pain preparations that we might be able to help you out with, we’d love to talk to you about it. Talk to one of our pharmacists or staff. Thanks.
